Raising Amaretto, Day 8

I am thinking I will take him to the farm with me this week so he can spend some time with his father who actually treats him better then his mother does.

Amaretto is an 8 day old calf that his mother would not accept, see prior blog posts for details. Amaretto is adjusting to his routine.  Feeding him milk replacer every 6 hours has been the most difficult aspect of his care.  At the two week mark I can reduce feedings to two times a day.  I have been putting some feed grain in his mouth but he takes very little in.  He has shown a little interest in freshly cut grass.  I am sure his appetite for these will increase soon.  I have been doing a little bit of halter training.  It is very slow going.  He pulls like a mule and can last over 5 minutes in a test of wills.  He is a hit with the children of course.
