I enjoy the updates. My cows were bred later I am still waiting for the first calf this season.

I just stumbled across your blog, and since I was internet window shopping dreaming of starting my first longhorn herd I thought I'd check y'all out! Naturally this is the first post I saw since it was the most current. I thought that I'd offer a halter training tip that I learned growing up with 4H calves. If you have a sturdy free-swinging gate tie her close to swing end and open the gate back and forth. The leverage provided by the gate works even for halter training much larger calves, even up to yearlings if they are already fairly gentle (if not already gentle a yearling might yank it off its hinges... That was a fun one to explain to Dad) He'll probably drag his feet the first couple of times, but usually by the fourth or fifth time they'll quit locking up and start moving their feet! 6/16/2016 09:16:49 am
Thank you for your comment. It sounds like a good idea. Comments are closed.
